Bioimpedence Spectroscopy (BIS)
At arc Wellness studios we offer L-Dex® Analysis for early detection and surveillance of Lymphoedema and BodyComp™ Analysis as a way of monitoring your progress with things like skeletal muscle mass and hydration on your wellness journey. BIS is a quick, non-invasive technology that will help you to understand where you are at now and how things are going as you continue your treatments or health improvements. This service is for our Oncology rehab clients at risk of lymphoedema, our clients with lymphoedema and lipoedema and our Pilates, Strength and Rehab clients as a way to monitor progress.
Currently this service is only available at our Hataitai studio.

What is a Bioimpedence Spectroscopy?
Bioimpedence spectroscopy (BIS) is the only noninvasive, low-cost technology that can accurately measure your total body water, extracellular and intracellular fluid volumes in a clinical setting. This detailed analysis can help with early detection and assessment for chronic conditions and monitor changes in body composition to give you a clear picture of how your wellness journey is going.

L-Dex® Analysis for Lymphedema
Lymphedema is often not diagnosed until a patient experiences symptoms like discomfort, heaviness or swelling in their limb. With early diagnosis and intervention, the condition can be well managed.
The L-Dex score, is designed to detect small lymphedema-related fluid changes in the limbs.
This represents the difference in the amount of extracellular fluid in an at-risk limb compared to an unaffected limb.
L-Dex is ideally taken prior to any Oncology treatment commencing and then 3 monthly for the first 24 months post, moving to 6 monthly after 2 years.
Its never too late to start monitoring even if you have started or completed treatment.
